BOOK DESCRIPTION

Between Seattle and Chicago, The Mountain Daylight passenger train ferries people across the country as lives intersect and futures unfold. In this setting, a young Seattle man finds his first real job working the night shift on the train.

Several states away, a small town in North Dakota watches its children grow up in an atmosphere of love and caring.

Author Gary A. Friedly takes us on a journey into the lives and loves of families separated not only by distance, but lifestyle. The Olsens are a proud North Dakota farm family, their pride and joy being the eldest son who is a star athlete with a promising future. The Jensens, an upper-class family from the Seattle area, are parents of a talented, artistic young man who rejects a traditional college education in exchange for a menial job on a train.

Friedly’s story, Bridge Over The Valley, is a classic American tale of heroism, tragedy, triumph and healing in the tradition and style of renowned writers such as Steinbeck and Hemingway.
